Gertrude has been maintaining a small basic needs shop for the last 5 years. She acknowledges the fact that earning a small profit off many small things can sustain her life. She sells items such as match boxes, soap, soda, sugar, bread and candles among others. Gertrude has an attitude of a strong entrepreneur and believes that if given chance, she can further her plans of expanding her shop in terms of stock so she can bring in other items like maize flour, books and pens so that she can increase her chances of making higher profits such that she can educate her children.
Gerrude is a born of Bugoye village in Mukono district and it’s where she has studied from up to her primary two and then dropped out of school because her father died when they were still young and the mother was always sick so she could not afford paying fees for her. She was then taken stay with her aunt in bugerere and later she got married, stayed in marriage for 16 years but she divorced because she could not stand the husband’s behavior. She returned home and started farming business out of her small savings
