Tezerah Ssali has a poultry rearing business at her home. She now rears 300 layers and 200 broilers. She feeds them on maize brand, cotton, fish, soya, and salt mixtures among others. She continues to say that the major diseases that affect the birds are diarrhea, colds, malaria and worms so she always treats them with multivitamins and other treatments. She sells her hens at whole sale basis because she has enough market. For the pig rearing she started the project with 6 pigs. She rears them for beef. At 8 months, when they are grown and they give her many young ones.She feeds them on grass and maize brand. After getting a loan she expects her income to increase greatly since she will be able to feed her poultry well as well as the pigs.
Tezerah Ssali says that she grew up with her auntie who was paying her school fees and dropped out of school in primary seven and got married when she made 18 years 5 with children now. They rented in different places while with her husband who was a driver at Owen falls dam in Jinja and in 1999 they bought land in Namaiba and transferred but unfortunately, after 3 years, her husband passed on so now she is a widow. After the death of her husband, responsibilities became too much on her so she started to sell fruits and food items for 2 years and currently in goats and hens business for 6 years now.
